About us

Our first project – ‘The Jungle Story’ took nearly 2 years to come into full fruition as back in the beginning we were both school teachers – and contrary to belief – it’s not all about the holidays! We were busy. However, so  inspiring was The Jungle Story, we met nearly every weekend to do ‘book work’.

The Jungle Story  is one of many yoga stories I use in my children’s yoga classes; this was the first longer story I had written which rhymed. I use rhyme for all my Sun Salutation stories as I find the words come easier, and admittedly, I like rhyme as I don’t think it necessarily has to follow a strict pattern – or make complete sense for that matter…therefore complete freedom!

This is very important when teaching the children to write their own yoga rhymes.

In every class I teach. The Jungle Story is a favourite, the children love doing the monkey asana (loud ) and they find the arrow of love in the monkey’s bottom funny ( no animals harmed in this process – just filled with love!)

When you experience how much children love yoga, and how enthusiastic they are about making up yoga stories and rhymes, you realise that there is a real opportunity there to transform that enthusiasm into something tangible; something that reflects the beauty of what we capture when we perform the story.

The Jungle Story was born out of the inspiration gained from using The Yoga Bananas Technique.

The lady with that eye for beauty was Anita:

Anita brought to life our Little Yogi’s imaginations, what they see when move through asana; an adventure right there on their mat. Each painting illustrates perfectly the vitality, the beauty and the unity of children and their place on the Earth.  Although we wrote the words and painted the pictures, it is the inspiration that children offer us which creates the magic…their love of yoga is what fills the pages.

Two years on Anita is bringing up her own little yogi, training to teach children’s yoga and complementing her career as a school teacher with lots of yoga practise!

Elizabeth has worked in the health and beauty industry from the age of 17. Originally qualifying as a beauty/ holistic therapist she travelled the world age 19 working as a spa manager on luxury cruise lines, promoting detoxification, health & well being to her clients.

It was in Canada that Elizabeth first gained interest in yoga in 2006.
In 2011 Elizabeth returned home and gave birth to her identical twin boys. They are her inspiration in life.

Elizabeth practiced yoga extensively when her sons were age 1. She became so passionate about the mental and physical benefits of yoga that she knew it was her calling in life to teach yoga. She stayed in her teacher’s ashram for a month in Kerala/ India where she practiced yoga & meditation 6 days a week from 5am – 10pm. This is where Elizabeth understood the true meaning of yoga. During her stay in India Elizabeth was also taught children’s yoga. She knew that on her return to England it was something she wanted to look into further.

Elizabeth then went on to qualify in the yoga bananas technique, this is yoga for children from ages 4 upwards, this technique is a fun way of learning yoga with techniques that help the child’s growth in many aspects of their lives. Elizabeth finds that teaching children’s yoga is the most rewarding & is her favourite yoga to teach out of the different styles she is qualified in.

Elizabeth also teaches arial and hatha yoga in various studios and schools near her home.

‘The world is our oyster and everyday an adventure…..therefore we plan to continue to explore.’

Book Reviews

''I purchased this book for my 2 year old. I decided to take it to our RAF baby group (ages from 6months to 3 years) the children absolutely loved it. The story and yoga positions are easy to follow and the children had a blast. As did the adults joining in. We cannot wait for the next book. Awesome idea. And we'll written and illustrated''
